Charles Venneman
Charles Ferdinand Venneman (7 janvier 1802, Gand - 22 août 1875, Saint-Josse-ten-Noode) était un peintre belge spécialisé dans les scènes de genre anecdotiques, les foires flamandes et les paysages avec des animaux.
Il reçoit sa formation artistique auprès de Joseph De Cauwer et de Ferdinand de Braekeleer. À dix-huit ans, il participe au Salon de Gand. De 1821 à 1836, il vit de la peinture décorative et de meubles. Après 1836, il peut se consacrer entièrement à son art.
Il s'installe à Anvers en 1837, pour travailler avec son ancien professeur, De Braekeleer. Là, il subit l'influence des œuvres de David Teniers et d'Adriaen van Ostade, en particulier celles qui représentent des villageois et des paysans en train de s'amuser. Les œuvres qui en résultent sont de nature nostalgique : elles sont agréables et rappellent des œuvres similaires du 17e siècle. Une histoire est toujours sous-entendue.
Au cours de sa carrière, il a exposé avec succès aux Salons d'Anvers et de Bruxelles, ainsi qu'à Gand. Ses peintures sont devenues très populaires et ont souvent été appelées «Vennemannekens».
Comme beaucoup de peintres prolifiques du XIXe siècle, il utilise une peinture à base de poix qui ne préserve pas très bien les couleurs, ce qui rend ses œuvres moins colorées et moins nuancées qu'elles ne l'étaient à l'origine.
Sa fille Rosa est également devenue peintre, mais a travaillé dans un style plus réaliste.

For those not aware, I've been without valid photo ID for ages, let alone ID with my correct name and gender marker.
When I got my name and gender marker change order done a few months back, just before I could get in the state office to get a new ID (and I was having issues with them actually sending me a non-temporary one regardless...) they decided they were going to start ignoring court orders and putting anyone who tried to get their ID updated on a list.
Thankfully that's only at the state level and the only thing that matters there is drivers license. I was born in a state that is very supportive of updating my birth certificate, and the federal government still accepts the forms just fine.
So the passport isn't just me able to leave the country reasonably, it's also a valid photo ID with my correct name and gender which I haven't had in ages (and has been the thing holding me back from updating things like bank accounts).

Downtime
Sorry for the downtime, server crashed and I wasn't able to address it quickly or smoothly in my current mental state.
I took advantage of the downtime, and probably exacerbated it a little, and finally did the migration back to local hardware... so it *should* be more reliable.
What honestly stretched it out a lot is that I also applied the most recent stable Friendica version and that took forever to update the database.
It's with a heavy heart that I'm letting y'all know that I'm disabling open-registrations and *encouraging* all users to find a new home.
I'm not kicking anyone off my server, but unfortunately due to the political situation here in the US the chance for things to go *very bad very quickly* I can not vouch for this server as reliable.
I live in Texas and need to figure out plans to evacuate at this point. I was holding out hope that we'd at least have status quo (as monstrously awful as it is) for longer.
And to make things worse, I'm a trans-woman, they actively want to make my very existence (let alone presence online) illegal and have been building the machinery to make that a very fast process once Trump assumes office.
So I do not recommend this server any longer for those reasons, if you choose to stay I'll continue to run it and support y'all.
