Edmond-Adolphe Rudaux
Edmond-Adolphe Rudaux né à Verdun le 10 février 1840 et mort en juin 1908 à Donville-les-Bains était un peintre, illustrateur et graveur français.
Connu pour ses représentations d'enfants à la plage, il est le père de l'astronome Lucien Rudaux (1874-1947) et du peintre Henri Rudaux (1870-1927).
Edmond-Adolphe Rudaux est né à Verdun le 10 février 1840.
Il est d'abord élève du peintre de fleurs Victor Leclaire (1830-1885) et d'Eugène Lavieille. Il habite à cette époque au 54, rue de La Rochefoucauld à Paris. Il expose pour la première fois au Salon en 1863 deux natures mortes.
L'année suivante, il envoie au Salon une première scène de genre. Il épouse Marie-Louise Libert en 1864, dont il aura deux enfants. Puis il fréquente en voisin l'atelier de Gustave Boulanger (1867). Il produit alors des scènes de chasse et de pêche.
En 1870, il présente au Salon une aquarelle, La Petite Curieuse, un projet d'éventail: c'est le début d'une longue série consacrée à la jeunesse et à l'enfance, thème qui marquera désormais une grande partie de son travail. Ses scènes vont vite devenir à la mode et sont copiées de son vivant, comme par exemple sa toile Le Péage (1868), scène champêtre et galante, qui, selon Henri Beraldi, a été reproduite « un nombre incalculable de fois » sous la forme de gravure typo, chromos, carte de vœux, etc.
Vers 1873, il s'installe avec sa famille à Saint-Pierre-lès-Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime). Il découvre les plages de Veules-les-Roses. Le jeune peintre Émile-Louis Minet lui rend visite pour des conseils. Dans les années 1880, il part vivre à Donville-les-Bains où il fait bâtir une maison appelée «Les Gerbettes». Dans le jardin, il commande un petit observatoire, inauguré le 27 mars 1894, que son jeune fils Lucien utilise et qui déterminera sa vocation.
Il poursuit son travail de peintre en s'inspirant de la région autour de Granville.
Illustrateur d'ouvrages de bibliophilie et travaillant pour les publications d'Alfred Mame destinées à la jeunesse, il ne se contente pas de dessiner, il grave également. On estime sa production à plus de 200 eaux-fortes, publiées entre autres chez Cadart dans L'Eau-forte en (quatre pièces, 1874-1881) et chez Conquet (Paris), dont une remarquable suite pour les Nouveaux contes à Ninon (1882) d'Émile Zola.
Il meurt en juillet 1908, chez lui, à Donville-les-Bains.

Just a random note:
"Ad Hominem" is a logical fallacy in which they dismiss the argument by addressing the person not the argument.
Ad Hominem is not calling the person a douchebag while addressing the points of the argument.
Ad Hominem is saying those points should be dismissed because they are a douchebag.
It's thrown around (improperly) often by people who want to basically say "you've lost the argument because you're angry" but what to add elitism on top of entitlement.
Easy test: if you can remove all the insults from the argument and it still makes sense, then it's not Ad Hominem.
My little fur niece and my family still need help. While the goal has been met, it's the bare minimum, if things go well and luck is good things will work out... but things are really hard even then.

Downtime
Sorry for the downtime, server crashed and I wasn't able to address it quickly or smoothly in my current mental state.
I took advantage of the downtime, and probably exacerbated it a little, and finally did the migration back to local hardware... so it *should* be more reliable.
What honestly stretched it out a lot is that I also applied the most recent stable Friendica version and that took forever to update the database.
It's with a heavy heart that I'm letting y'all know that I'm disabling open-registrations and *encouraging* all users to find a new home.
I'm not kicking anyone off my server, but unfortunately due to the political situation here in the US the chance for things to go *very bad very quickly* I can not vouch for this server as reliable.
I live in Texas and need to figure out plans to evacuate at this point. I was holding out hope that we'd at least have status quo (as monstrously awful as it is) for longer.
And to make things worse, I'm a trans-woman, they actively want to make my very existence (let alone presence online) illegal and have been building the machinery to make that a very fast process once Trump assumes office.
So I do not recommend this server any longer for those reasons, if you choose to stay I'll continue to run it and support y'all.

As far as I know they're stable, they're just holding their breath for worse and cutting back on their own care to cover and prep (ie. my sister has severe health issues, my nephew has dietary issues, and they're cutting groceries).
So donations right now are toward breathing room, toward either avoiding possible bad news putting them back under or if all goes well then toward getting them back on their feet.
