Ernest Dupont
Ernest Dupont est un peintre de genre français né à Paris en 1825 et décédé en 1888. Il fut l'élève de Paul Delaroche (1797-1856).
Voici ce qu'a écrit Charles Baudelaire au sujet de ce peintre dont je ne sais pas grand chose:
Nous avons rencontré un pauvre petit portrait de demoiselle avec un petit chien, qui se cache si bien qu’il est fort difficile à trouver; mais il est d'une grâce exquise. C'est une peinture d'une grande innocence, apparente, du moins, mais très bien composée, et d’un très joli aspect; un peu anglais1.

Ernest Dupont devait continuer dans cette voie et se spécialiser dans les portraits de jeunes filles, genre dans lequel il était normal qu'il parût un peu anglais, à une époque où, sur la lancée de l’anglomanie romantique, la «manière anglaise» en peinture était encore fort à la mode. Et Baudelaire, dont le goût et l'esthétique doivent tant à l'Angleterre, ne pouvait manquer de faire cette dernière remarque.

Just a random note:
"Ad Hominem" is a logical fallacy in which they dismiss the argument by addressing the person not the argument.
Ad Hominem is not calling the person a douchebag while addressing the points of the argument.
Ad Hominem is saying those points should be dismissed because they are a douchebag.
It's thrown around (improperly) often by people who want to basically say "you've lost the argument because you're angry" but what to add elitism on top of entitlement.
Easy test: if you can remove all the insults from the argument and it still makes sense, then it's not Ad Hominem.
My little fur niece and my family still need help. While the goal has been met, it's the bare minimum, if things go well and luck is good things will work out... but things are really hard even then.

Unknown parent • •@Henry willow to be clear, this is my sister's campaign. As far as I know they're stable, they're just holding their breath for worse and cutting back on their own care to cover and prep (ie. my sister has severe health issues, my nephew has dietary issues, and they're cutting groceries).
So donations right now are toward breathing room, toward either avoiding possible bad news putting them back under or if all goes well then toward getting them back on their feet.
