Jean-Baptiste Greuze - Jeune fille assise (non daté) - Restauré
Ce tableau comme plusieurs œuvres de Greuze nous délivre un message. En effet cette jeune femme tient dans sa main un cadre ovale représentant un cœur transpercé d'une flèche, symbole de déception sentimentale. Cet élément, allié au paysage dépouillé et à l'attitude mélancolique du modèle, vêtu à l'antique, rappelle les œuvres peintes à la fin du XVIIIème siècle par Greuze. En effet, les figures féminines en larme accompagnées d'objets altérés ou brisés font référence à la nostalgie de l'enfance et à la perte de la virginité et de l'innocence comme Diderot le suggéra pour des œuvres telles que le miroir brisé ou La cruche cassée conservées à la Wallace Collection de Londres. Ces tableaux peuvent être teintés d'érotisme ou, au contraire, faire appel à la morale. Dans notre œuvre, la flèche n'a pas atteint sa cible et la couronne de victoire que tient la jeune femme semble se faner, tout le pathos de la composition semble simplement suggérer la nostalgie d'un amour perdu. Ce type de sujet remplaça les scènes de genre dramatique dans la veine de L'Accordée de village passées de mode à la fin de la carrière de Greuze. Des personnalités telles que Bachaumont ou le Marquis de Marigny admirèrent les tableaux de cette dernière production et contribuèrent certainement à les mettre à la mode.

Just a random note:
"Ad Hominem" is a logical fallacy in which they dismiss the argument by addressing the person not the argument.
Ad Hominem is not calling the person a douchebag while addressing the points of the argument.
Ad Hominem is saying those points should be dismissed because they are a douchebag.
It's thrown around (improperly) often by people who want to basically say "you've lost the argument because you're angry" but what to add elitism on top of entitlement.
Easy test: if you can remove all the insults from the argument and it still makes sense, then it's not Ad Hominem.
My little fur niece and my family still need help. While the goal has been met, it's the bare minimum, if things go well and luck is good things will work out... but things are really hard even then.

Unknown parent • •@Henry willow to be clear, this is my sister's campaign. As far as I know they're stable, they're just holding their breath for worse and cutting back on their own care to cover and prep (ie. my sister has severe health issues, my nephew has dietary issues, and they're cutting groceries).
So donations right now are toward breathing room, toward either avoiding possible bad news putting them back under or if all goes well then toward getting them back on their feet.
