Being on Friendica with a wildly different format for displaying posts/comments... I wonder sometimes what my feed looks like to users on Mastodon... is it just a bunch of context-less comments?

@Shiri Bailem I guess...

I don't even get why would one like the Twitter format anyway. It's a total mess

in reply to Cătă

@Cătă bite sized content designed for spewing into the void at higher rates.

Basically, it's the social media equivalent of pizza vs pizza rolls

@Shiri Bailem That makes sense. So instead of actual coherent discussions, you get a constant flow of nonsense. This way the poster posts more and the reader spends more time figuring things out 😅
in reply to Cătă

@Cătă it's absolutely not a platform for discussion imo, and it's more about keeping it short. Everyone is incentivized to get to the point rather than writing longer posts.

It makes it hard to rant and get into heated discussions, but easier to get a dose of bite sized content that's easy and quick to read.

Alternatively, Friendica's format is much more suited to longer posts and ongoing conversations.

@Shiri Bailem Yea, it is. I do not always post rants, but I sometimes like to elaborate my arguments when I get into a discussion, despite taking me quite some time :D

So I guess Twitter will never be the place for me :D
