Vladimir Makovski
Vladimir Egorovitch Makovski (en russe Владимир Егорович Маковский), né le 7 février 1846 à Moscou et mort le 21 février 1920 à Petrograd (aujourd'hui Saint-Pétersbourg), était un peintre de genre réaliste, portraitiste et collectionneur russe.
Vladimir Makovski est le fils d'Egor Ivanovitch Makovski, collectionneur d'art et l'un des fondateurs de l'École de peinture, de sculpture et d'architecture de Moscou. Sa mère est d'origine germano-balte. Il a deux frères Nicolas et Constantin et une sœur Alexandra qui furent tous des peintres renommés de leur époque. Il prit des leçons avec Vassili Tropinine. Il réalisa sa première toile à quinze ans, Garçon vendeur de kvas. Vladimir devient membre des ambulants, après avoir terminé l'école de peinture, de sculpture et d'architecture de Moscou en 1869, où il fut entre autres l'élève de Vassili Zarianko, d'Eugraphe Sorokine et de Tropinine.
Il prend l'enfance pour thème, après la naissance de son fils Alexandre en 1869 et Tretiakov lui achète ses premiers tableaux pour sa galerie. Il est nommé académicien en 1873 avec son tableau Les Amateurs de rossignol qui est exposé à l'exposition internationale de Vienne. Il s'attire l'admiration de Dostoïevski. Makovski enseigne à l'école de peinture, sculpture et architecture de 1882 à 1894 et de 1894 à 1918 à l'Académie impériale des beaux-arts de Saint-Pétersbourg, dont il devient recteur en 1895. Il fait un portrait officiel de l'impératrice Maria Fiodorovna en 1885.
Il est enterré au cimetière Volkovo.

François-Alfred Delobbe
François-Alfred Delobbe, né le 13 octobre 1835 à Paris et mort à Paris 14e le 10 février 1915, était un peintre naturaliste français.
Élève d'Abel-François Lucas, de Thomas Couture et de William Bouguereau à l'École des beaux-arts de Paris, puis des cours de l'École impériale de dessin, il débute au Salon des artistes français de 1861 avec un portrait de sa mère qui attire l'attention. C'est un peintre de genre, de portraits et de paysages. Il reçoit de nombreuses distinctions et prix (une médaille en 1874 pour son tableau "Musique Champêtre" et en 1875 pour "Pyrame et Thisbée", ainsi que des commandes officielles, comme la décoration de la mairie du XVe siècle arrondissement de Paris.
De 1875 jusqu'à sa mort, il séjourne régulièrement à Concarneau où il se lie d'amitié avec le peintre Alfred Guillou, dans la maison duquel il habite parfois (il peint d'ailleurs un Portrait de Mélanie Guillou, la sœur de son hôte), mais il descend aussi à l'Hôtel de France près de la gare de Concarneau. Il peint simplement sous une lumière douce et blonde des scènes de genre, des paysages inspirés par cette région bretonne, des portraits d'enfants ou de jeunes femmes, des scènes souvent paysannes. François-Alfred Delobbe peint des esquisses en plein air pendant le printemps et l'été et achève ses tableaux l'hiver dans son atelier parisien. Plusieurs de ses modèles préférés habitaient Concarneau et sa région (Beuzec-Conq, Lanriec).
Thérèse Schwartze
Thérèse Schwartze, née le 20 décembre 1851 et morte le 23 décembre 1918, était une peintre hollandaise de portraits.
Thérèse Schwartze est née le 20 décembre 1851 à Amsterdam aux Pays-Bas. Elle est la fille du peintre Johan Georg Schwartze, qui avait grandi à Philadelphie et s'était formé à Düsseldorf.
Elle reçoit sa première formation auprès de son père, avant d'étudier pendant un an à la Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten. Ensuite, elle se rend à Munich et étudie sous la direction de Gabriel Max et de Franz von Lenbach. En 1879, elle se rend à Paris pour poursuivre ses études auprès de Jean-Jacques Henner. Quand elle retourne à Amsterdam, elle devient membre de la société d'artistes plasticiens Arti et Amicitiae.
Le 22 juillet 1918, son mari, Anton van Duyl, meurt. Comme Thérèse Schwartze était en mauvaise santé à l'époque (et essayait de le cacher), la mort de son mari a été un choc qu'elle ne pouvait pas surmonter facilement. Elle meurt à Amsterdam le 23 décembre 1918 d'une maladie soudaine.
Elle est inhumée au cimetière de Zorgvlied à Amsterdam. Plus tard, elle est inhumée au cimetière Nieuwe Ooster à Amsterdam, où sa sœur a créé un monument en sa mémoire, modelé d'après son masque de mort, qui est maintenant considéré comme un monument national.
Ses portraits, principalement de l'élite d'Amsterdam, sont remarquables pour l'excellence du dessin de personnages, une largeur et une vigueur de manipulation et une richesse de pigment.
