are Scottish pet cats wilder than those in England? I don't have any cats of my own but befriended two I met in the street (they sometimes even visit my house) and neither of them shows any interest in birds, they don't even bother with catching dangling string or cat toys. (I do deliberately keep the tree in my garden tall, there are red-list birds there but I think they are too much effort for the suburban cats to bother with..)

Cats generally are a mixed bag. Some are not interested in hunting and others are. I general those that grow up in more rural settings tend to be more interested in hunting than those who grow up in more suburban/urban settings
