Lisa Pease: The American press has gone to extraordinary lengths to demonize Venezuelan President Hugo) Chávez, to portray him as a dictatorial monster, or worse, a crazy man. Of course, if Chávez had given American-based businesses control over his country's oil supply instead of nationalizing it to benefit his countrymen, no doubt the press for Chávez would have been glowing.
