Hello! My name is Eli, I'm a transmasc butch from Tumblr. I'm slowly poking my way around the Fediverse and I'm looking for an interface that lets me do long-form blogging. Friendica is allegedly good for that, so here I am!

With the uptick of AI image generation and soon video, and the current strike where it's one of the key issues, I had an interesting thought:
Once this is in full swing (and hopefully in a way that's equitable for actors), I'm imagining we'll eventually have an AI actor version of the Willhelm Scream. Have this one background actor who's in *every* movie and cinephiles will point, and I don't mean like Stan Lee cameos where they get dialogue and a face shot, I mean like Alfred Hitchcock cameos where it's a game to spot them.

* One of the points I've heard they're striking over is because studios want to pay a background actor for one day of work to scan them in and then use their likeness forever. I hope they come to an good arrangement for the actors in this, they deserve to get paid.
Planned Outage
Power company is coming to work on the power transformer next Monday (7/17).
I've been notified that the planned outage is for 9am to noon US Central Time.
Outage Report 2023-06-20
Server was down for a few hours because internet was down for that time, had a water leak in a neighboring apartment and had to cut the fuse that the internet was on.
Obviously got that situation resolved.

Server went down as I was asleep, it ran out of storage.
I've expanded the storage and have adjusted the settings to reduce storage consumption. The biggest factor being that I had user profile caching turned on and it looks like my server discovered a bunch of new servers resulting in a large uptick in cached avatars.
This setting has now been turned off, it should make for a minor performance hit on new users but otherwise the big impact is significantly reduced storage space usage.

Also what's your Tumblr, Friendica supports following Tumblr feeds, and this spurred me on to finally setting up the Tumblr addon which allows crossposting to Tumblr (it does require access to your Tumblr to do so, but uses Oauth so doesn't have your password or control over your account, just the ability to post).

@hadeantaiga I definitely recommend digging around through the settings because there's alot going on and a lot of decisions made by default that may or may not be what you want.
You can find the social network connectors under Social Networks, I've enabled all that are included in Friendica. If it's an "Export" that means it'll copy your posts to your account on that platform, and Import being it bringing things in to Friendica (Tumblr is both and the Export is controlled by a checkbox, it also lets you specify up to 10 tags to import as well).
Friendica is also cross compatible with OStatus and Diaspora* with no configuration needed (though there's far far fewer users of those protocols, ActivityPub is the big name).
On top of all that, you can also follow RSS feeds.
And when looking at the settings, don't skip over Addons. It's not for you to enable addons but rather miscellaneous settings for addons I have installed (for instance the content filter addon defaults to blocking everything tagged nsfw).
I'm also fond of going to Display Settings, Content/Layout to set "Stay local" which cuts down on the times links send you to another site. There's also your account type, which sets certain behaviors (the default Standard requires you to accept all follow requests, I like Soapbox which lets anyone follow but I have to manually add them to Friends)
